CHILD CARE MANAGER
Under supervision, plan, organize, implement, coordinate and schedule services of an extended day child care program for school-age children at selected sites in india. Supervise and direct full and part-time staff.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Child Care Manager is the top management level class within the Child Care Division and is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the activities and services of the Child Care facilities. This classification is distinguished from lower classifications in Child Care by its full and overall management responsibility for the entire division.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical, clerical and volunteer staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Plan, organize, supervise and implement child care programs that meet the needs of the
Society and school-age children participating in the child care program.
• Provide operational policy and procedural direction over the child care sites.
- Inform residents of services provided at the various child care sites.
• Assist in the development of division goals, objectives and plans for future services and
facilities.
• Research Society needs and assess viability and implement programs to meet those
needs.
• Prepare, monitor and administer the division budget all contracts.
- Approve and coordinate all programs and activities at the various child care sites.
- Provide administrative support and technical assistance for child care related grant requests.
• Ensure that all child care personnel perform tasks in an efficient and safe manner.
- Be culturally sensitive to the needs and interests of participating families.
- Select, supervise, train and evaluate employees.
• Attend City Council and Commission meetings as requested by the Society Services
Director.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the
course of work
• Act as the Society Services Director as required and perform other related duties.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports and using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work related documents.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Experience
Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for a Child Care Manager. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of Three years of child care administrative experience, A Bachelor’s degree in recreation, recreational therapy, special education or a related field is required; plus six units of childhood administrative courses, child development or related programs.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Principles and procedures of Child Care management or management of other children or youth programs. Procedures and techniques of budget preparation and administration. Leadership, motivation and educational techniques.
Ability to:
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Design, develop and implement programs to meet the child care service needs of the society. Direct, train, schedule and evaluate assigned personnel. Read and understand government codes, rules and regulations. Compile and maintain mandatory records and reports. Work safely and efficiently, and train subordinates in safe practices of work. Make decisions independent of direct supervision.
Skills to:
Effectively operate a motor vehicle on City streets. Operate computer and applicable software.
